Dr. François Bertin graduated from the Joseph Fourier University of Grenoble in 1979 with a Masters degree in nuclear instrumentation and in 1981 with a PhD degree in medical instrumentation. Following this, he joined CEA-LETI (CEA-Grenoble) and has been involved in the growth of GaAs; inthin film characterization by spectroscopic ellipsometry and by X-ray; in surface characterization byAtomic Force Microscopy. In 2006 he obtained his “Habillitation à Diriger des Recherches”. He has been the scientific manager of the off-line characterization facilities at CEA-LETI and been involved in lecturing subjects such as AFM and signal processing at the University of Joseph Fourier. He has published more than 60 papers and directed 10 PhD. As retired, his current interest focuses on “advanced” data processing.
